This is a song composed of all the times somebody sang The Roads go ever ever on in The Lord of the Rings books, respectively, Bilbo Baggins and Frodo, in different points of their lives.
Therefore, we are starting with a young Bilbo Baggins, at the end of The Hobbit journey, when he came back to the Bag End home (from 0:00, to 2:09), moving on to an older Bilbo Baggins, leaving The Shire for ever (from 2:20, to 3:20). Frodo also sings this song at the beginning of his adventure (from 3:25, to 4:25). Finally, old and sleepy Bilbo Baggins sings this next to the fire in the house Rivendell (from 4:30, to 5:35).
