They, unknowingly, crucified You.
But You with a longing soul
Forgiving, were asking for their forgiveness.

Beloved child, heavenly wanderer,
today you knock on closed doors again.
Oh, I saw you beloved Child
from thousands of doorsteps turned away,

thousands of doors you waited upon,
But in vain! -You were forgotten.
Today more and more throw you outside
heavenly and holy and dear wanderer!

And still, under a poor face
You come to people year after year
with good to pay their evil
to call upon, to forgive, and to love.

To share your divine treasure
to those who come to you,
dying on a cross between thieves
to show how much you love them all.

Heavenly child and holy child
hidden beneath a humble face,
You knock on each door but all hide away
Colder than a stone in a wall.

Oh, tomorrow they will find
Your door forever closed
You mourn their current state
But tomorrow they will cry for eternity.
