Gospodăria – cine are copii de școală, începe să se gândească la înzestrarea lor, sau la pregătirea pentru examenele ce au de dat. Părinții sunt datori să mai supravegheze munca copiilor și să nu-i lase de capul lor. Se curăță pivnița ori zemnicul pentru primirea zarzavaturilor de toamnă. Se înlătură mucegaiul prin pucioasă.
Grădina de zarzavaturi – e în toiul belșugului ei. Ceapa se întinde ca să fie bine uscată. Pătlăgelelor roșii li se ciupesc ramurile noi, ca să vină hrana la fructe. Se poate semăna salata de iarnă, spanacul.
Livada – începe culesul merelor și al perelor timpurii. La cules trebuie băgare de seamă. Crengile încărcate cu fructe se sprijină cu prăjini ca să nu se prea îndoaie și să se rupă.
Câmpul – se continuă cu aratul de toamnă, adânc. Dacă a fost vreme potrivită, se cosește încă o dată lucerna. Pază mare la jirezi împotriva focului. Într-o clipă se face scrum munca de o vară. Se pregătește din vreme sămânța de grâu, trecând-o prin trior.
Ce seamănă omul, aceea va și secera.

Faptul cel mai tulburător în răstignirea lui Hristos e că El a fost dus la cruce nu de oameni răi, ci de poporul de jos, care a lucrat dintr-un motiv familiar și comun. Era clasa preoților, care îl dușmănea; erau schimbătorii de bani, cari și-au văzut amenințate câștigurile lor; erau oamenii politici, cari se temeau amarnic de El. Și chiar oamenii simpli de azi, din motive familiare, îi calcă în picioare dragostea.

Household – those who have children that go to school should start to endow them, or to prepare them for the exams they have to take. It is the parents’ duty to overlook children’s work and not let them do as they please. The basement gets cleaned or the cellar to store the autumnal vegetables. The mold is removed with brimstone.
The vegetable garden – is in full abundance. The onion is laid down to be dried. The new branches of tomatoes are cut so the nourishment goes to the fruit. The winter salad or the spinach can be planted.
The orchard – we start to harvest the early apples and pears. Careful while harvesting. The fruit-loaded branches are supported by poles so they don’t bend to much and break.
The field – we continue with the deep autumn plowing. If the weather was good, the lucerne is mowed again. Very careful of fires over the hay. In one moment it can ruin the whole summer’s work. The wheat seed should be prepared in advance.
Whatever a man sows, he will also reap.

The most disturbing fact about Christ’s crucifixion is that He was taken to the cross not by the bad people, but the lower people, those who did that from a familiar and common reason. It was the class of the priests, who made him an enemy; the money exchangers who saw their profits threatened; the political men who were deeply afraid of Him. Even the simple men of today, from familiar reasons, are stepping over His love.
