Gospodăria – viața se restrânge mai mult în casă. E luna sărbătorilor de iarnă, bucuria copiilor. La fiecare gospodărie măcar un porc e pus la îngrășat, spre a da saț casei; nu degeaba e vorba: Crăciunul sătulului.
Grădina cu zarzavat – e odihnă. Cel mult e larma sticleților și a pițigoilor care caută semințele de morcov, de pătrunjel, ori mărar, rămase neacoperite de omăt.
Livada – ca și pe câmp, iarăși e odihnă. Dacă zăpada nu a căzut prea multă, nu e rău să se îngrămădească la rădăcina arborilor. Uneltele de grădină ca și cele de agricultură, curățite, unse, se pun fiecare la locul lor, ca să nu stea în zloată și să ruginească.
Vitele – se îngrijesc în grajd. E adevărată iroseală și neomenie să le lași în ger și viscol. Mai bine nu le-ai avea.
Tot omul se îngrijește și de suflet.

The household – the life restricts to mostly inside the house. It’s the month of winter holidays, the joy of the children. To any household, at least a pig is fatted, to satiate the house; it is not in vain that is said: The Christmas of the satiated.
The vegetable garden – is resting. In most cases we can only hear the noise of the goldfinches and the titmouse who are looking for seeds of carrots, of parsley, of dill, left uncovered by snow.
The orchard – like the field, is resting. If there has not fallen too much snow, it is not bad to gather it at the root of the trees. The garden tools, like the agricultural tools, cleaned and greased, should be put at their place, so they won’t stay in the sleet and rust.
The cattle – are tended to in the stable. It is pure waste and unhuman to let them out in the frost and blizzard. It would be better not to have them.
All humans also tend to their souls.
