Pentru cei care nu mi-au urmărit blogul și Youtube-ul până acum, sunt mare fană C.S. Lewis – plănuiesc să citesc toate scrierile sale în viața aceasta, dacă mă ține Dumnezeu.
Ce legătură are el cu J.R.R. Tolkien? Ei bine, aceștia doi au fost prieteni buni, având chiar un grup literar, împreună cu alți membri, timp de mai mulți ani.

Cred că e foarte important să ne documentăm despre viața unui autor a cărui lucrări le apreciem, pentru că, dacă viața unui scriitor este o absolută dezordine, nu prea îmi vine a crede că acesta ar putea scrie ceva de calitate.
Mă refer aici la principii de viață, pentru că niciun om nu este perfect, dar contează moralitatea acestuia.
Dacă nu rezonez cu principiile de viață ale unui scriitor, atunci e foarte posibil să nu rezonez cu ceea ce acesta transmite.
E mai important să selectez cărțile pe care le citesc, decât să citesc absolut orice: Citește Calitate, nu Cantitate.
Sunt atât de multe cărți bune, încât nu ar trebui să ne pierdem timpul cu cărți care nu ne folosesc la nimic, deși există și aspectul documentării din cărți față de care nu ne regăsim neapărat, dar, ca studiu față de oamenii care se regăsesc în acestea, le citim.

Citind despre C.S. Lewis, am aflat despre prietenia lui cu Tolkien, și despre faptul că își împărtășeau ideile, și chiar J.R.R. l-a ajutat pe C.S. să înțeleagă Creștinismul, cel de pe urmă fiind înainte ateu. Și mulți cunoaștem ce cărți valoroase de apologetică creștină a scris Lewis în viața sa de creștin. Iar aceasta nu e prima dată când Tolkien a avut o influență creștină în viața unui prieten.
Așadar, am decis să citesc lucrările lui Tolkien, inițial într-un mod educativ, să văd ce mesaj transmite, iar apoi am ajuns să citesc de plăcere. Am început cu Hobbitul, iar, mai apoi Trilogia Stăpânul Inelelor.

Temele transmise prin aceste cărți, chiar dacă sunt de ficțiune, se regăsesc și în viața noastră.
În principal, este Dorința de Putere, exprimată prin goana forțelor răului după Inelul Puterii – și cât de mult nu se vede astăzi asta în lumea noastră: oamenii sunt oribiți de putere, trec peste suflete, își omoară conștiința, unii trec peste cadavre (la urma urmei, ei au omorât persoana în mintea lor) doar pentru a deține puterea, pentru a conduce, pentru mândria lor, pentru avere, controlați de această robie…
Prietenia adevărată este o altă temă abordată și foarte importantă, puterea de sacrificiu pentru scopul suprem de a apăra ce este bun, simplitatea, pacea, viața simplă. Forțele binelui se unesc în acest scop, lăsând la o parte diferențele dintre ei, pentru ca, cu prețul vieții lor, să dea tot pentru învingerea asupritorilor.
Sunt mai multe viziuni abordate, și poate voi mai vorbi despre ele cândva. Dar până atunci, aceasta este o lectură pe care o recomand, pentru că oricine se regăsește într-un personaj sau altul, sau într-o experiență sau o întâmplare.
Călătoria personajelor te ține cu sufletul la gură, iar primejdiile, dar și bucuriile îți ating sufletul fie prin neliniște de moment, fie printr-o senzație de pace și bucurie deplină.
Chiar dacă lacrimi curg pe obraji sau se preling în suflet în anumite locuri, la un moment dat se vor împleti cu mângâieri dulci, care vor alina cicatricile anterioare.

Sper să citiți și voi aceste cărți, pentru că, cel puțin subconștientul vostru, se va hrăni cu lecții de viață, ascunse printre luptele fictive ale hobbiților, ale elfilor, ale piticilor, contra forțelor întunericului.
Iar printre aceste cărți, genialul Tolkien a presărat versuri de cântat, istorie bogată, și chiar limbi noi scrise și vorbite, construite de mintea sa.
Și mie mi s-a dat de Sus câte o melodie pentru fiecare vers, care, poate, va fi pe placul vostru, fie atunci când veți citi cărțile, sau chiar acum, urmărind astfel povestea lor.

For those who have not followed my blog and my Youtube page, I’m a big C.S. Lewis fan – I plan to read all of his works in this life, if God helps me.
What’s this to do with J.R.R. Tolkien? Well, these two were good friends, to the point of having a literary group, among other members, for many years.

I believe it very important to document ourselves on the life of an author whose work we appreciate, for, if the life of a writer is an absolute mess, it’s hard for me to believe he will write something of high quality.
And I’m talking about principles of life, for none is perfect, but what matters is his morality.
If I don’t resonate with the life principles of a writer, it’s very possible that I won’t resonate with what he delivers.
It’s more important to select the books I’m reading rather than reading any thing: Read Quality, not Quantity.
There are so many good books, therefore we should not waste our time with useless books, although there’s the aspect of documentation from books that we don’t really find ourselves into, yet we might study and read what other people find into these.

Reading about C.S. Lewis, I found out about his friendship with Tolkien, and that they were sharing ideas, to the point that J.R.R. helped C.S. understand Christianity better, the latter being at first an atheist. And we must know what precious books of Christian apologetics Lewis has written in his life as a Christian. And this was not the only time Tolkien had a Christian influence on a friend’s life.
Therefore, I have decided to read Tolkien’s works, firstly in an educational way, to see what kind of message it gives out, and then I read them for pleasure. I started with The Hobbit, and, then, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy.

The themes transmitted through these books, although they are fictional, can be found in our world as well.
Mainly, it is the Lust for Power, seen in the rush of the evil forces in capturing The Ring of Power – and how visible is this rush in our days: people are blinded by power, stepping over souls, they kill their conscience, some are even stepping over dead bodies (overall, they have killed the person in their mind) only to hold on to power, to rule, for their pride, for wealth, being ruled by this bondage…
True friendship is another motive addressed in the books, and it’s a very important one, the power of sacrifice for the ultimate purpose of defending what is good, simplicity, peace and the simple life. The forces of good unite in this way, putting apart their differences, even with the price of their own lives, to give it all to the defeat of the usurpers.
There are multiple themes addressed, and maybe I’ll talk about them some other time. But, until then, this is a book I recommend, because anyone can find themselves in one character or another, or a certain moment of the story.
The character’s story keeps you on your feet, and the trials or the joyful moments are touching your soul whether through temporary anxiety or a feeling of peace and utmost joy.
Although tears may fall down your cheeks or trickle down your soul in certain moments, at the right time, they will weave with sweet caresses, which will soothe the previous scars.

I hope you will also read these books, for, at least your subconscious, will be nourished with life lessons, hidden through the fictional fights of the hobbits, the elves, and the dwarves, against the forces of dark and evil.
And in these books, the genius of Tolkien scattered lyrics of songs, rich history, and even new written and spoken languages, built by his mind.
It was also given to me from above a melody for each verse, which, maybe, will be to your liking, whether when you’re going to read the books, or even now, watching their story unfold.
